The Unanswered Rookery is the server's first open-air dungeon, a wind-scoured plateau in the Northern Manumet Plains where a displaced flock has nested around the door that stranded them (character levels roughly 20-25 and up, sitting above the Unbidden Doors arc).

Overview

There is no roof here, no corridor, no vault - just open plateau under open sky, and at its centre the wound the drift left behind. Players arrive at the plateau's south edge and have to cross open ground to reach it.

The plateau and its nest scar, seen from above.

At the centre of the plateau sits the nest scar: the Rookery Mound, a rise of broken rubble ringed by a clutch of five large yellow eggs. The flock nests on the exact spot they came through, not for shelter but because that is where an answer would come from - and nothing has ever called back.

Inhabitants

The only creatures a player fights here are the Wayless Siraluun, the displaced flock itself. They are thickest around the Rookery Mound and thin out toward the plateau's edges, and losses here don't stay quiet for long.

Boss

Whetu the Unanswered holds the centre of the nest, by the mound, with the rest of the flock close around it. There's no trick to the fight beyond that: it's the flock's keeper, fought on the flock's own ground, with the flock still there.

Access

The way in is a single pinned door standing in the Drift Network hall's south wing, east alcove. Its portal description reads:

"A door stood here once. Something came through it, and it shut behind them. They are still calling."

Aun Tehaura the Drumspeaker keeps watch beside the door and hands out a standing tally: kill 15 Siraluun, of either the flock or Whetu the Unanswered, and report back for 20,000 XP plus a substantial XP reward that scales with your level. The tally resets and can be repeated every 20 hours.
