Doorheld Surveyor are the fastest of the crew still holding Held Door, corrupted Meridian soldiers wearing the drained-out husk of their own issue. A stronger strain of the same operatives holds the deep middle stretch of First Pin's descent.

They were the crew's forward scouts, and they kept the habit: quicker and harder to pin down than their Escort and Gauger kin, and weighted toward the dais where Line-Captain Isaure Vellamy still stands. They go open-faced rather than helmed, the one visible difference from the rest of the crew - a small, unsettling reminder that a face is still in there. Their plate carries the same drained, near-black finish with a faint dead-blue glow in place of the unit's old silver.

The First Pin strain were sent down to measure that dig long before the wing was something anyone walked for sport, and something down there kept them. They still carry themselves like operatives on a survey rather than monsters in a den - they can still work a door - which makes them the descent's uneasiest echo: not a creature that was always wrong, but people the Meridian sent and never got back.
