QuestsThe Unbidden Door (Yaraq)

Nadir ibn Hakam is the Driftwarden of Yaraq - a water-carrier who found a door grown across his morning path, and pays adventurers to go through it and destroy whatever rules the other side.

Overview

Nadir has carried water past the same Yaraq spot every morning of his life. One morning a door stood in his way, and it has not moved since. He cannot rest until it breaks, and pays the one who breaks it in a Driftwarden's Mark - honored, like the other three, at the Driftwarden Provisioner.

Quest: The Unbidden Door (Yaraq)

  • Objective: enter the Yaraq door, defeat The Gilded Shell, and bring Nadir the Shard of the Shell it drops.
  • Reward: one Driftwarden's Mark, plus a combat XP award worth 100% of a level, up to level 25 (a full level anywhere in the arc band; the amount flattens past level 25).
  • Repeatable: every 20 hours.
  • Level range: 10-15.

Dialogue

On first speaking with him:

"I carry water. I have carried it past this spot every morning of my life. This morning there was a door in my way."
"The Pathwarden names it a portal and believes the naming settles it. A portal is made. This was not made, it grew."
"Riders came from Sanamar and from Holtburg with the same story, and a courier out of Shoushi besides. Four doors in four towns, opened in one day, and no two of them lead to the same place. I would like very much to know what is counting us."
"Go through. Bring me something off the thing that rules it, and I will put a Mark in your hand. The provisioner will honor it, because the four of us said he would."

On bringing back the boss token:

"So it breaks, and I will sleep tonight, which I have not done. Here is your Mark; the provisioner is across the way."
