Lattice-Bent Wisp are the drifting trash of Miscounted Door, part of the warren whose census the Meridian can never settle.
They are the first creatures on the whole ladder to carry "lattice" on their nameplate at all - one rung short of the Drift Network's graduation, where the deeper structure beneath the drift starts to show through in what a monster is even called. Nothing about a Wisp looks wrong to the eye; it drifts and stings the way any wisp does. What marks it as lattice-bent is that killing enough of them is itself the Meridian's method for settling the warren's tally, as if the census only balances when the warren is thinned along the same lines the wisps drift in.
