Dispatcher Corwen Hale
RoleGreeter, south wing routing
LocationDrift Network hall, centre aisle
FactionThe Meridian

Dispatcher Corwen Hale is the Meridian clerk who stands in the centre aisle of the Drift Network hall, facing the row of six south wing doors he no longer personally keeps the books for.

Overview

Corwen keeps the south wing ledger, and has kept it long enough to have stopped noticing the difference between the procedures and the doors. He greets arrivals with the wing's standing account of itself - what the six doors are, how the work is taken, and what it pays - then sends them on to the door they actually want. Each of the six doors keeps its own warden standing at its own arch, and it is the warden, not Corwen, who takes the work order, tracks it, and pays it out on completion.

Dialogue

Corwen's greeting is the same regardless of which door a visitor is bound for:

"Six doors on this wall, all pinned, all leaking. The Meridian does not close doors; we file them, and filing is not the same as finished."
"You take a work order, you go through, you do the work, and I mark the ledger. Take the orders in any order you like; the doors will not care, but the deeper pins are not kind to the unready."
"Pay is Meridian issue, one piece to a door, six pieces to the set. Wear the full issue and you will understand why our people walk in straight lines."
"The wing runs itself now. Each door keeps its own warden - speak to them at the arches. I only balance the ledger."
