Held Door is a single-hall boss hunt opening off the south wing of the Drift Network hall, built for characters of roughly level 46 and up. In spring, a Meridian survey crew went through under a Line-Captain and never reported back. The door has been held against the wing ever since, from the inside, by people still wearing Meridian issue and running Meridian procedure. The wing's official position is that the crew is deceased and the equipment is recoverable. The wing does not have a procedure for what the crew actually is now.

Overview

Held Door is one long, flat hall with no side branches: you drop in at the south mouth and the only way forward is north, up a gentle rise to a raised dais at the far end. There is nothing to solve here, no doors or levers to work through - just the length of the hall and what is standing in it.

Top-down floor plan of the Held Door hall: a single route running south to north, from the entrance mouth to the raised dais.

The Doorheld crew

The hall is held by the survey crew itself, corrupted into something that still wears its own armor and still runs its own drills. They read as Meridian issue with the life drained out of it: near-black plate, the unit's filigree gone to a faint, dead blue glow instead of its old silver shine.

The Doorheld crew: Escort, Gauger, and Surveyor, wearing the drained-out husk of their own Meridian issue.
Type Role Notes
Doorheld Escort Tanky front-line gatekeeper Highest health of the three; weighted toward the entrance
Doorheld Gauger Heavy bruiser Hits hardest
Doorheld Surveyor Fast skirmisher Goes open-faced rather than helmed; weighted toward the dais

Fourteen of the crew hold the hall body between the entrance and the dais. Two more - one Escort, one Surveyor - stand with Line-Captain Isaure Vellamy herself at the terminus, her own remaining honor guard.

Boss

Line-Captain Isaure Vellamy holds the dais at the north end, the last officer of the crew that went missing. Putting her down is the visible job the Meridian pays for. But her death does not end the hall's business: it opens a door at her own stand point onto a second, sealed chamber - one the wing has never logged, holding whatever it actually was that caught her crew before it caught her. That second fight is the encounter's real twist, and the wing that sends you in has no idea it exists. What is in there is The Other Shoulder, and it is a harder fight than the Line-Captain who precedes it.

Access

The entrance is a portal in the south-wing alcove of the Drift Network hall, standing beside Relief-Bearer Ysanne Loret. It requires a minimum character level of 35 to step through, though the hall itself is built for level 46 and up. A "Surface" portal at the south mouth of the hall returns you to the hub at any time.

Ysanne Loret sends contractors after "recoverable equipment" - the crew's Meridian issue - without knowing what is actually waiting on the other side of the Line-Captain. Bring back word of both the captain and whatever answers behind her, and she pays out on a repeatable cadence with a one-time reward piece the first time you finish it. See Relief-Bearer Ysanne Loret for the full job and Meridian reward pieces for the reward.
